Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse 10th anniversary contest.
My favorite hang out is the Poulsbohemian coffeehouse. I started going there when I first moved to Poulsbo almost 4 years ago. Although I don't drink coffee, they have a game night every Tuesday night. I love playing cards and board games, so that is what first attracted me to the place. Now I find it a nice free-spirited oasis in a rather conservative small town. There is always good company there.
On July 3rd, Poulsbo celebrates Independence Day with a small fair and a fireworks display. (Yes it's always a day early so we can go to the big city on the 4th.) Well the Poulsbohemian had their 10th anniversary party on the same night. They decided to have an art contest to coincide with it, so for the previous two months all the local artists painted, drew, and photographed something about the Poulsbohemian. I got the idea of doing a panoramic inside the coffeehouse with my own special flair. Since the focus of my art is nude bodies and body acceptance, I decided to have everyone in the coffeehouse nude. Marianna agreed to let me do a shoot after hours, and I managed to talk some friends (and my wife) into posing for me. We had a great time and I think the results turned out wonderful as well.

After Hours at the Poulsbohemian

| There were 16 entries for the contest. The winner would receive a Latte a Day for a year, as well as having their artistic piece displayed in the coffeehouse. There was a public vote during the party, with the winner announced before the fireworks. Lo and behold, I came in 1st place! I feel it is a small triumph for nude art in Poulsbo. |
Special thanks to Aaron, Tristana, Emily, Kim, Kim, Dan, Aaron, Aaron, Dan, Aaron, Dan, Kim, and Tristana for posing in my picture. |
